2025 African American Read-In

2025 African American Read-In Online

You are invited to the 2025 African American Read-In: Celebrating Gloria Tibbs with Food for the Soul! Register to join us on February 17, 2025 from 2:00-3:30 pm in the Miller Nichols Library room 325, or join us virtually on Zoom.

The African American Read-In is a celebration of African American literature and literacy. Participate by reading excerpts from poetry, speeches, stories, songs, and other works created by African American authors and artists. Or, just come to listen, reflect, and enjoy the presentations. Join us on February 17th as a listener or a presenter!

In 2023, the event was renamed to honor the legacy of long-time librarian Gloria Tibbs, who helped bring the African American Read-In to campus in 2010, and who lovingly called the Read-Ins "food for the soul."

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. Joining us on Zoom will not require a Zoom account.

About presenting at the African American Read-In

The registration form asks if you plan to participate as a listener or a presenter. If you think you would like to read, perform, or share from poetry, speeches, stories, or other works of literature created by African American authors and artists, select Presenter. In addition to your registration confirmation email, you will be contacted by email by a member of the African American Read-In planning committee with more information about choosing your piece to share, and what you can expect during the Read-In.
