You are invited to the kickoff meeting for a new Faculty Learning Community: Teaching in the Misinformation Era - Integrating Information & AI Literacy into Your Course.
Taught by faculty librarian Mardi Mahaffy, this learning community will bring together faculty from across disciplines to explore practical strategies for helping students critically evaluate sources and information, understand the role of AI in knowledge production, and develop the skills needed to engage responsibly with digital tools and sources. Together, we will examine approaches to embedding information literacy and AI literacy directly into course design alongside disciplinary content. Working asynchronously and collaboratively, participants will:
- Identify opportunities within their own courses to teach information and AI literacy.
- Apply established literacy frameworks to disciplinary contexts.
- Explore adaptable learning outcomes, assignments, and teaching strategies.
- Develop and share assignments, activities, or other materials tailored to their own teaching
